Regular homework is an essential part of the curriculum.  We use ‘ShowMyHomework’ and the student planner as a means of communication between home and school. In Year 7 homework may take up to one hour per night and the amount increases steadily as students move up the school.

Homework can take a variety of forms, not all of which are written. All students receive a homework timetable at the start of each year and homework set is recorded in Student Planners and posted on ‘ShowMyHomework’ website with information about the date the work is to be handed in. Some homework will take the form of assignments to be completed over a period of time. In addition, reading of free choice books should play a daily part in each student’s schedule and, for imminent tests and examinations, well-planned revision over a reasonable time is essential.

Students are helped to acquire the skills to plan and organise their work without supervision to provide a foundation for examination success. Recent reorganisation of the school day allows a period for independent study from 3.00 - 3.25pm Monday to Thursday. This can be supplemented by voluntary attendance at Homework Club 3.30 - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 3.00 - 4.00pm on Friday.
