Sport and Performing Arts Vision
Nurture talent and provide opportunity for every young person in the areas of Drama, Music and Sport to be inspired and achieve success. Enable students to develop the physical, social and emotional skills needed to believe in themselves, show consideration for others and value diversity. Promote a practical engagement in life-long learning.
The Sele School Physical Education department strives to nurture our young people’s individual social, psychological and physical well being and competency, to install a lifelong commitment to physical activity.
During PE Lessons at The Sele School, Students participate in a comprehensive programme of individual and team activities to cover all aspects of the national curriculum. Our PE curriculum allows students to progressively build on and embed their physical development and skills, to become more competent, confident and expert in their technique.
Girls typically cover Netball, Rugby, Trampolining, Gymnastics, Rounders, Athletics, HRF and OAA. Boys will follow a programme of Football, Rugby, Basketball, Trampolining, HRF, Athletics and Cricket.
Students in Key Stage 4 opt for lessons such as Football, netball, Rounders, tennis, Fitness and volleyball. Students in Key Stage 4 can opt to take either GCSE or BTEC PE, and students in Key Stage 5 follow the BTEC National Level 3 qualification.
Our students should develop the confidence and interest to get involved in exercise, sports and activities out of school and in later life. They should also understand and apply the long term health benefits of physical activity.
Gifted and Talented students are encouraged to join clubs inside and out of school. Sele School students have achieved representative honours at School, District, County and National level.
