The Sele School is a Comprehensive Academy on the edge of Hertford and has been rated Good by Ofsted at our last two inspections. Vacancy for Cleaner - 15 hours a week to start 1 September 2020

Please see below for details of a current vacancy for a cleaner at The Sele School.  Normal working hours are three hours per afternoon 3.00 - 6.00pm Monday to Friday. Job Title:                                Cleaner -  start date 1st September 2020

Salary:                                  Hertfordshire County Council grade HB, £17,364                                                   per year full time

Actual annual salary:           £5,265 paid in 12 equal monthly amounts

Hours:                                  15 hours per week, school term time + 1 week,                                                     total 39 weeks per year

                                              Normal working hours 3.00pm to 6.00pm                                                             Monday to Friday


    To undertake cleaning duties to maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the school, as directed.
    a) Undertake cleaning of allocated areas in line with specified standards and as
            directed, including:
                            - Vacuuming and cleaning floors
                            - Dusting and polishing furniture and other surfaces
                            - Cleaning walls and other paintwork, tiling and mirrors, windows
                            - Cleaning toilets, sinks and basins
  3. b) Operate/use domestic and industrial cleaning equipment and materials, following
    appropriate training
  4. c) Store allocated equipment and materials safely and securely
  5. d) Perform duties in line with health and safe regulations (COSHH) and take action
    where hazards are identified; reporting serious hazards to the line manager          immediately
  6. e) Collect and dispose of waste
  7. f) Refill and replace soap, towels and other materials 

Allocated areas can be classrooms, offices, reception areas, school hall, stairways, toilets, kitchens etc. 

The duties above are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out duties within the context of the job, skills and salary grade. 

    The Governing Body of The Sele School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to demonstrate this commitment in all aspects of their work.

    This post is classed as having a high degree of contact with children or vulnerable adults and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An enhanced disclosure will be sought through the DBS as part of the School’s pre-employment checks.

To suit the needs of the School, you may occasionally be asked to work alternative hours and/or additional hours (additional hours are paid).  If the School decides that a permanent change to working hours, including start and finish times, is necessary, you would be consulted on that in accordance with statutory requirements.
