The Sele School is a Comprehensive Academy on the edge of Hertford and has been rated Good by Ofsted at our last two inspections. The good behaviour of our students and the pleasant and cooperative environment this engenders has been highly rated by Ofsted and is valued by teachers and students alike.

Evening Caretaker

We are looking to recruit an Evening Caretaker to join our hardworking and committed site team. You will work under the guidance of the Site Manager and Day Caretaker to predominantly oversee the use of the school premises by external hirers and provide a clean and safe environment for users of the school buildings and grounds. The position will involve independent working and will require you to use your own initiative to continually review the fluctuating and sometimes unexpected needs of the school. 

Responsibilities will include:

· Liaising with hirers to ensure the premises meet their needs and are safe and secure

· Act as key holder in emergencies

· Ensure the school's buildings, grounds and associated buildings are secure at all times, particularly at evenings and weekends

· Operation of the school's heating plant

· Handyperson duties which may include minor repairs to furniture and fixtures and non-skilled decorating work 

The Governing Body of The Sele School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires all staff to demonstrate this commitment in all aspects of their work. A full enhanced DBS check will be undertaken and references will be sought from previous employers prior to interview.

Pastoral Support Officer

Due to the rapidly growing population of students at The Sele School, we have created an additional post to join our pastoral team and to expand our provision. We require an inspiring, well-rounded and hard working individual to join the dynamic pastoral team, to promote high expectations and aspirations as well as support student engagement with learning. Working within the pastoral team means you will work alongside a strong team of staff that is supported by a SENCO, School Counsellor and Head of Well-Being and Integration. The role involves working in partnership with school leaders, classroom and non-classroom-based staff, parents/carers, students and other professionals to address barriers to learning and ensure that all students can engage with education. Timely and accurate record keeping is a vital part of this job role and you will need to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills. This role is suited to professionals with frontline experience of working with young people and proven experience of partnership working.

 Science Teacher

The Sele School has a vacancy for the post of Teacher of Science, preferably with a Physics specialism. The post will be focused on delivering the three disciplines at KS3 and KS4 and supporting the department where needed. There is also scope to teach at A level in your science specialism and develop as a middle leader or take on a leadership role if you are ready.
