Sele Diamond Jubilee Celebration
The Sele School 60 Anniversary Party
On 22 November 2025 The Sele School was proud to host a party to celebrate our Diamond Jubilee. We were delighted to welcome former and current students, staff and parents to our Celebrations. Guests at the free event enjoyed an evening of performances as Sele Students Sang and Danced through the decades, convivial chat with old friends and a trip down memory lane as they took in the exhibition mounted in the Gym.
The photos of 'Singing and Dancing Through the Decades' give a flavour of both the rehearsals and performances of our talented students.

Old fashioned pub games and an art exhibition of student work were also available in the Gym. We understand that some of our (former student) guests may have given their old rope climbing skills a try, although so far as we’re aware no one actually got off the ground.
We are indebted to Hertford Museum who very kindly loaned the display panels for their fabulous ‘Sunshine on Sele’ exhibition, charting the development of the local community. We matched this with a range of photos, year books, Newsletters and other ephemera from The Sele Schools’ long history – we think the earliest picture in the school exhibition was a shot of Princess Margaret and Sele’s first Headteacher, Mr. Bill Maxwell, at a tree planting ceremony. At the event we learned that the Princess landed by helicopter onto the playing fields and had requested that a G&T be available for her on arrival – we aren’t sure whether the G&T was ready or not!
Many thanks to all who helped make this event a great success – the Site Team, our Music teacher Mrs Braggins-Elder and dance teacher Mrs Calaz, as well as our after-school Street Dance and Acrobatic Dance clubs, which each prepared a performance piece. We also thank FOSS who ‘manned’ the bar and provided refreshments throughout the evening and of course, the Jubilee Party Working Group who planned and organised the evening.
